Tuesday Training 2nd September Next weeks training session is a handicap race. Handicaps are shown on the results spreadsheet. Next week they will be calculated from the finishing times of the previous week. Winner of the night is anyone getting a PB (provided they have three recorded times) else the first paddler across the line from the handicap start. If two PBs then greatest PB wins.Conditions : Very very low water levels, making for very slow times. Paddlers : Ten starters, Liam Thompson, Andree Martin, Roy Martin, Christian Thompson, Jaymee-Lee Martin, Joe, Francis Nolan and new paddler Wayne Adams all in K1s, Jonathon Thompson and Simon Greig in TK1s. Course : This weeks course was the 4 lap course Shelley Bridge to Riverton Bridge, four laps approximately 4.5km. Result : This week it was a quick start with Simon, Jonathon, Andree and Christian all making a dash early. It wasn't long before Joe caught Christian and then passed Andree. Christian passed Andree but then promptly fell in and was left swimming at the rear of the event. Francis however was ever making his way through the field taking the leader Simon on that last lap. In the end first three across the line were Francis, Simon and then Joe. Fourth was Jonathon then came Jaymee-Lee, Liam, Wayne Adams made a great start to his Canning training nights with a very strong performance, then came Roy and Christian bringing up the rear. Of special note was a stunning performance by Jaymee-Lee who got a PB on the night which was exceptional given the slow conditions, well done Jaymee. This weeks photo shows Francis accepting the first prize of a movie voucher from committee member Judith Thompson. Highlight of the evening : Jaymee-Lee setting a PB in very slow paddling conditions. Anyone is welcome to join us on Tuesday evenings 5.30PM for a 6PM start on the Eastern bank of the Riverton Bridge. $2 to enter with a chance to win a movie voucher, any craft, any experience welcome.
