2009 / 10 CRCC Annual General Meeting

Vice President                  Judith Thompson nominated by PA, seconded by JL
Treasurer                          Andree Martin nominated by PA, seconded by SG

Building Committee        Alan Quartermaine, Simon Greig, Christian Thompson,

After the AGM we held the inaugural AGM race, a 6.6km nomination race to Kent Street Weir and return.  Every paddler nominated a time that they thought they would complete the race in.  The winner would be the paddler closest to his predicted time, no watches allowed.  There was spirited interest in winning the race as a movie voucher was at risk.  Unbeknownst to anyone Damian Cooper had a cunning plan, Damien a regular paddler in these waters was first to put his time down, everyone else then promptly calculated their own time with reference to Damien, knowing that Damien had paddled this area lots recently and could be relied upon getting pretty close to his prediction.  After a little while all the paddlers had guessed their times and everyone was on their boats and getting ready for the mass start.  Thats when Damien played his trump card - he yells out to the starter "i've changed my mind could you change my time by three minutes please", well what a commotion that caused, people were pleading to change their own times and many paddlers did including the Club president Roy Martin who reset his time by a minute only to eventually finish 1 minute and 1 second off his nominated time - unlucky Roy.

In the end it was Alan Quartermaine who won the day being only 11 seconds off his nominated time, Andree Martin was an unlucky second being only a second further behind.

Photos below show Alan Quartermaine receiving the winners movie voucher from club member Liam Thompson.
Second photo shows the new CRCC office bearers from left to right Club president Roy Martin, Vice President Judith Thompson, Treasurer Andree Martin and Secretary Christian Thompson.

Thankyou to everyone for attending the AGM.
